Media often tells us to "undo" our mistakes. They've invented various acne cleansers, weight loss surgeries and other numerous worldly things that helps us "undo" the mistakes we've made, so we might strive perfect. Confession: I used to want to erase the mistakes I made in the past. I wanted to go back in time and press an undo button, anything to erase the pains of my folly actions. But after the experiences that has happened this summer, I have realized that the mistakes I have made were wrong, but by the grace of my Abba Father I have forgiveness, and even though the pains of my past still sting, God will use my circumstances for His Glory.
My church recently talked about this subject, and in the sermon notes they provided a list of Biblical characters in which God used their circumstances for His Glory:
Noah was drunk; Abraham was too old; Issac daydreamed; Jacob lied; Leah was ugly; Joseph was abused; Moses stuttered; Gideon was scared; Rahab was a prostitute; Jeremiah and Timothy were too young; David had an affair; Elijah was suicidal; Isaiah preached naked; Jonah rebelled; Naomi was a widow; Job went bankrupt; Peter denied; Disciples fell asleep; Martha worried; Samaritan woman was divorced; Zaccheus was too small; Paul was religious; Timothy had an ulcer...and Lazarus died!
Yes, all these Biblical characters had circumstances but one encounter with God changed them and transformed them. What I am trying to get at is: don't focus so much on your past and trying to get a do-over that it infers with your present and who God is trying to use you as.
