"Do not fret, because of evil men, or be envious of the wicked, for the evil man has no future hope, and the lamp of the wicked will be snuffed out."
-Proverbs 24:19-20 (New International Version)
I was exploring my Bible today and I really enjoy this verse. (: Proverbs is ALL about advice and this is some advice I needed.
Have you ever wished for that "perfect hairstyle" where your hair curls slightly at the ends, and always cooperated with you?
Have you ever wished for "killer muscles" that will impress everyone at your 3rd period PE class?
Or even that "breathtaking singing voice" that will wow the crowd and make you the most American Idol?
Sad to say, we all have, whether these examples or something completely different because we are humans and will make mistakes.
I was watching TV and this commercial came on [in a short summary] said that to change yourself to be beautiful.
Or this other TV show (I watch TV a lot...too much perhaps?) where they would praise a celebrity and then bash on her saying that she needs an accountant, ect, because of one little math mistake she made when younger. It seems like it will be the best "quick fix" to fall into the world. Been there done that!
But Jesus talks about how much more in life there is than the customs of this world.
To me, Proverbs 24:19-20 teaches that these things will fade away.
"...the evil man has no future hope..."
Maybe fortune tellers and tarot card readers may cash in today, but what will happen after this life?
Will they wow Jesus with all the money they have made? NO! The only way through Heaven, to eternal life, is to admit that you are a sinner and that Jesus Christ, Son of God the Father died for your sins and rose from the dead. It might seem like these things are making the money now, but I sure do not desire to commit my life to that if you know what I mean.
"...the lamp of the wicked will be snuffed out..."
It may seem like these evil works will be continued out forever, but God overrules everything! Nobody is more Perfect then God. Nobody is more Honest then God. God has all the power in the world and Heavens, so the Creator of the Universe can defeat all the evil of the world. =) That feels good, doesn't it? To me it sure does! Praise God!
Sometimes it feels like it will be easier to just sink into the world, but Jesus teaches that their is something So...much more.

Amen!
That's true. The media is all messed up. I guess I would truly be better to just back away from all that T.V. (Me especially!)
