"I waited patiently for the Lord,
He turned and heard my cry,
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
He set my feet on a rock,
and gave me a new place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to my mouth.
Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord." -Psalm 40:1-3
The second part of this Psalm: "He lifted me out of the slimy pit, our of the mud and mire" leaves me with an awe bearing, jaw dropping expression on my face. What I personally love the most is that the Psalmist who wrote this didn't just say pit. Instead he went into detail calling it slimy. Whenever I get something slimy on my hands, it is so nasty and I just have to wash my hands. So the Psalmist was very accurate when he said slimy.
When I was talking about getting slimy on my hands and how I have to wash my hands resembles to this message. Of course I need something to wash it off. It has to be clean because if it was more slime it would just contribute to the problem. In this case, Jesus is the water that cleans our hands. To even imagine the Son of God, hung on a wooden cross to die for us, beaten and bloody and bruised, is not even close to imagine how much He went through. His Glorious Rising is just amazing, to think that God kept His Promise. By doing this, He cleaned our slimy hands and made us pure so that we could, even though we are unworthy, inherit Heaven and be a light to God's Kingdom.
So yes, slimy isn't good...but God is!!!:)
