Weeds and Flowers

When you see a bouquet of flowers, what goes in your head? Do you admire the beautiful flowers and the smell, and how being around flowers makes you feel just...amazing? One time my parents picked up a bouquet of flowers for me after my first talent show..and it made me feel great! The colors were vibrant and flourishing with life. God wants us to be those beautiful flowers, constantly displaying the wonderful life that God called us all to and to be a light for others. Now switch your mind to a weed. Weeds grow and prevent the flowers from growing because they block the sun. Weeds in our life take many forms: gluttony, jealousy, drunkenness, immortality, anger...those are the weeds in our life. They don't seem like much at first but once they grow they keep us from our Spiritual growth, our Jesus. I have been trapped by these weeds before and it's not fun. It destructs our life and ruins our relationships, hobbies, and life.
"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener." -John 15:1
A gardeners job is simple: to get rid of weeds. God wants us to cling on to Him, and He will get rid of these weeds in our life. He wants us to live this incredible life full of joy and yes, we will eventually become discouraged or not have the best day, or fall short...but God loves you so much that His Heart is determined on getting you back. He loves you and wants to see you blooming incredible, world-changing flowers!! <3

This is so wonderful!I truly love this post and think that it is a great devotional. You have inspired me to be the best flower that I can be and always allow God to pull the weeds. I want to grow for Him and in Him!

Amen Julia & Terri! I'm headed to youth group tonight - I want Jesus to be bright in me, a little flower. I may be small, but because Jesus is in me, I am something.
