Lead me to the cross
Where Your love poured out
Bring me to my knees
Lord I lay me down
Rid me of myself
I belong to You
Lead me, lead me to the cross
Where Your love poured out
Bring me to my knees
Lord I lay me down
Rid me of myself
I belong to You
Lead me, lead me to the cross
This song is by Hillsong United. I know, the readers of this blog, you're probably growing tired of hearing meanings to songs that hit me deep, but I really feel this is important to everyone who clicks on this post, and sad to say, people who aren't.
Anyway, before my random update, I mentioned Lead me to the cross. I need to take up my cross to follow God. That means getting rid of all my selfish desires I hold on to for a safety net. No more gossip. No more dirty jokes. No more....old Julia.
You might think that following God is a boring, safe life. Here are some examples from the Bible (credit to a book my youth pastor gave me) and why they missed out.
♥ The 11 other disciples that stood around while Peter walked toward Jesus. They all perfectly saw peter ask Jesus to let Peter walk on water, but yet not one of them except for Peter actually went out to walk on water. They could of, but didn't.
(Matthew 14 22-36)
♥ The Pharisees, who instead of using the Bible as a Spiritual Survival Guide, decided to use it to test Jesus.
(Matthew 9:3 "At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, "This fellow is blaspheming!"
♥ The Hebrew fighting men, who instead of facing Goliath, they watched a little boy named David beat him WITH STONES.
:(1st Samuel 17:42 "He looked over David and saw he was only a boy, ruddy and handsome..."
♥Demas, Paul's disciple, who left Paul because he wanted to follow the world.
2 Timothy 4:10 "For Demas, because he loved this world, has deserted me and has gone to Thessalonica..."
♥ Jonah, who denies God's command and got swallowed by a huge fish. (But hey, he turned it around.)
( Jonah 1:3 "But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarhish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port.)
♥Judas, who betrays Jesus and it leads to Jesus 's death.
(Matthew 26:16 "From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over."
Matthew 6: 24 "Nobody can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other..."
When it comes down to it, will you serve God or the world?
