Part 3 of Setting An Example

"Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity." -1 Timothy 4:12

Today's part of the series is in love. My prayer is that when you read this the Holy Spirit will move through you and that the glory belongs to God and not myself. :) Let's begin!
When you think of love, what do you usually think of? Valentine's Day? Babies shooting arrows? Your special someone? Or do you think of the bloody cross where we received freedom, and ultimate love? The Pure Lamb being crucified for our debts, and rising from the dead because death couldn't hold Him in?
God IS love. We cannot love without God, for He is love.
In order for us to set an example and be able to love others, we must fall in love with God Himself.
When we truly know God, worship Him, and seek Him daily, its a complete different experience. Instead of a long list of rules to follow, you do it because you want to please Him. You wouldn't murder or even hate someone because you know it grieves Him. We even get to call Him "Abba, Father", in fact, that is His desire! He wants this intimate walk with you and Him, and once you seek it and have a desire for it also, it changes everything! If you've ever seen a movie where two people find each other and fall in love, you notice that they change. They want to please each other and spend time with one another. It's not easy but they are together, and that's all that matters. God isn't a burden where we have to sing songs and say a 5 minute prayer before bed, but instead He is a blessing to please, honor, and fall madly in love with Him.

When you really think about it, God's whole plan from the beginning of time was love. He created us so we can experience God's Love and serve Him daily. He loved those who hurt Him. He sent His Son to die and be crucify for our ransoms and rise again, so that we could have a pure relationship with God, and call Him Father.

When we fall in love with God, then we can experience loving others. By loving others it goes much farther then being nice to them on when they are nice. It's loving those who persucate us because we know that we persecuted others before we found God. It's praying for those who hate us because we know that they need God in they're lives. It's giving to the needy because we have faith that God will provide for our needs. We can only do this with the Holy Spirit in our lives working actively in every thought, action, and word. My prayer is that myself and the readers of this blog will be encouraged to fall in love with God and love others. <3
