said what i meant...

One of my favorite recurring themes in Seussical is "I said what I meant, I meant what I said, an elephant is faithful one hundred percent" It's said countless times in the song and dance numbers, as well as spoken to by Horton himself, but there is something about that line that just completely melts my heart.

Horton was faithful. He didn't even know if the people on the speck were real, yet he still believed and kept going. A lot of times I face moments in my life where doubts come and I wonder if God is there, but it is because of God's faithfulness and refusal to let me go that I am able to stand here and walk in the love that He has blessed me with.

Stories throughout Scripture speak of faithfulness. In Hebrews 11, what people call the "Hall of Faith" you read about ordinary people like us being imprisoned, stoned, put to death, burned and countless other ways because they could not stop talking about this beautiful gift, which is God. In Jeremiah, he cries out to God in the midst of being tortured and hated by people close to him because of his faith, yet he can't stop talking about it because it is like a fire burning inside of him.

"Faith is the virtue by which, clinging-to the faithfulness of God, we lean upon him, so that we may obtain what he gives to us." - William Ames
